History of Magic is a Hogwarts lesson that looks at great events of wizarding past. Taught by Professor Binns (who, aptly, is a ghost) the classes were often described as boring by many students, who used the time to take furtive naps. However, the class did teach Harry and his fellow pupils about a number of significant moments across wizarding history, such as the creation of the Chamber of Secrets and the Goblin Rebellions of the eighteenth century. One of the syllabus textbooks for this class was A History of Magic, perhaps one of the most famous tomes studied at Hogwarts, written by Bathilda Bagshot.
