Composed by Ashley Griffin, this snippet of ‘You Stole My Cauldron But You Can’t Have My Heart’ featured in *Chamber of Secrets* has us thoroughly charmed.  

That’s not the only delightful tune that you can expect to see as the series progresses. There are also two brand-new songs that you can hear in *Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince*.

We’re sure you superfans out there will recognise these song titles that hold a special place in Molly Weasley’s heart – ‘A Cauldron Full of Hot, Strong Love’, composed by Ashley Griffin and ‘You Charmed The Heart Right Out of Me’, composed by Kezia Tomsett.

Featuring music from a 17-piece big band recorded at the famous Abbey Road Studios in London, and with Dame Shirley’s spectacular singing captured at Miraval Studios in France, this truly is Harry Potter like you have never heard it before.

Seeing Jason Isaacs, who played Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, bursting with pride as he comes to support his on-screen son has made us all emotional. Watching the Harry Potter fans raise their torches in a sea of light throughout the theatre has got us too. In fact, all of it did!

It was dress robes only, as the new *Cursed Child* cast put their best fashion-foot forward on the red carpet. The year seven cast is led by __John Skelley__ as Harry Potter and __Trish Lindstrom__ as Ginny Potter with __Emmet Smith__ as their son Albus Potter. __Rachel Christopher__ and __Daniel Fredrick__ play Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, respectively, with __Janae Hammond__ as their daughter Rose Granger-Weasley. __Tom Felton__ plays Draco Malfoy opposite __Aidan Close__ as his son Scorpius Malfoy. __Kristen Martin__ plays Delphi Diggory.

As the first actor from the Harry Potter films to reprise their role, we can only imagine how momentous this must all feel for Tom Felton. Luckily, he had his on-screen dad there to support him. It was incredibly meaningful to hear him talk about the important role Jason Isaacs played in his life and how he now intends to pass that on.

His love for Aidan Close, who plays Scorpius Malfoy, is so endearing – we’re sure they’re set to become another iconic duo. In fact, with the matching floral motifs on their red carpet outfits, it appears they’re already on the same wavelength! 

Also, can we take a moment for Aidan’s look? The fairytale skirt in black tulle. The contrast of light and dark. The whimsical flowers that are blooming with colour. This imaginative creation captures the magic of Harry Potter perfectly.

Aidan’s outfit wasn’t the only one that made us think of the wizarding world. With sleeves that remind us of wings, Rachel Christopher’s fantastic gold dress could have been inspired by the Golden Snitch. Her onstage daughter, Janae Hammond, was rocking a suit in Gryffindor red – a fitting nod to her character, Rose Granger-Weasley. The third member of this famous family, Daniel Fredrick, eschewed Ron’s signature maroon for a suave pink suit instead.

The Potters were also dressed to impress! Playing the only Slytherin in the family, Emmet Smith proudly wore his character Albus’ house colours. His onstage father, John Skelley, looked sharp in a smart suit. While Trish Lindstrom, who plays Ginny Potter, added a pop of colour to the proceedings with a fun, pink dress.

Last night, Tom Felton took centre stage as he made his highly-anticipated Broadway debut in *Harry Potter and the Cursed Child* at New York’s Lyric Theatre. Returning to the role he played in all eight of the original Harry Potter films, the moment he and his brilliant blond wig appeared as Draco Malfoy, the theatre erupted with the sounds of thunderous cheering and applause.

Okay, hearing that it was almost exactly 25 years between Tom's first *Philosopher’s Stone* and *Cursed Child* table reads has given us chills. Not to be all Trelawney about it... but it’s things like that which make us wonder if fate is real.

## Our encounter with the Sorting Hat

One of the most memorable moments from *Philosopher’s Stone* has to be when Harry finds out he’s a Gryffindor. Last night, we were able to experience that pivotal scene like never before. Thanks to a clever installation, complete with house-themed lighting and the sounds of Harry’s first Sorting Ceremony, it almost felt like we were the ones pulling a singing hat onto our heads to discover our own Hogwarts destiny.

## The best-played game of chess Hogwarts has seen…

If one sneak peek wasn’t enough, we also relived the heroic moment Ron took on a larger-than-life chess game and was victorious. Hearing it while standing on a chess board was certainly a surreal moment… we’re just glad we didn’t encounter the queen.

With mirrors cleverly placed around the room, we couldn’t help but feel like we surrounded by an infinite number of keys – giving us a real sense of how high the stakes were for Harry, Ron and Hermione.
