## The Leaky Cauldron is the oldest pub in London

Despite what many [Muggles](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/muggles) think, the title of oldest pub in London goes to this well-loved wizarding establishment. Found on Charing Cross Road, the [Leaky Cauldron](/fact-file/locations/the-leaky-cauldron) was built in the 1500s – long before Charing Cross Road was even planned! Its true address is number one, [Diagon Alley](/fact-file/locations/diagon-alley).

## Muggles used to frequent the Leaky Cauldron

This wizarding institution wasn’t always a place that where only magical folk congregated. As it was built two centuries before the imposition of the International Statute of Secrecy, it was initially visible to Muggle eyes too. Muggles weren’t made to feel unwelcome or turned away. Having said that, thanks to the *interesting* conversations and even more *interesting* magical pets, many scarpered before finishing their mead.

## Neville Longbottom and Hannah Abbott lived above the Leaky Cauldron

In a turn of events that we find extremely adorable, after leaving [Hogwarts](/fact-file/locations/hogwarts) not only did [Neville](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/neville-longbottom) continue his passion for magical plants as [Herbology](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/herbology) professor, but he also married [Hufflepuff](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/hufflepuff), [Hannah Abbott](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/hannah-abbott-fact-file). The happy couple decided to make a home for themselves living above the one-and-only Leaky Cauldron.

## A pub was the headquarters of a rebellion

Although we never learnt which one it was, according to *Sites of Historical Sorcery*, one of the wizarding pubs in [Hogsmeade](/fact-file/locations/hogsmeade) was said to have been the headquarters of the 1612 [goblin](/fact-file/creatures/goblin) rebellion. Could it have been the [Hog’s Head Inn](/fact-file/locations/the-hogs-head) which was known for its dubious dealings and schemes? Or perhaps it was the cosiness of the [Three Broomsticks](/fact-file/locations/the-three-broomsticks) that convinced the goblins to make it their base?

## The Hog’s Head Inn was run by a Dumbledore

While [Albus Dumbledore](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/albus-dumbledore) ran Hogwarts, just down the road his brother, [Aberforth Dumbledore](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/aberforth-dumbledore-fact-file), ran the Hog’s Head Inn. Crochety and a big fan of goats, he and his brother didn’t always see eye-to-eye. Ultimately, they were both extremely good people and Aberforth even helped the resistance at Hogwarts after Albus’ death – thanks to a secret passage that connected the [Room of Requirement](/fact-file/locations/the-room-of-requirement) to his pub.

## Sybill Trelawney made her infamous prediction at the Hog’s Head Inn

The Hog’s Head Inn was the location of many crucial story moments from the founding of [Dumbledore’s Army](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/dumbledores-army) to [Hagrid](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/rubeus-hagrid) winning a dragon egg in a game of cards. However, there was one particular moment that changed the course of wizarding history forever. On a gloomy night, Albus Dumbledore went to interview [Sybill Trelawney](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/sybill-trelawney) for the role of [Divination](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/divination) teacher. He was thoroughly unimpressed until, among the ramshackle décor and sticky floor, she made her prediction about the boy destined to end [Voldemort](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/lord-voldemort) and rid the world of his evil!

## Katie Bell was given the cursed opal necklace at The Three Broomsticks

Run by Madam Rosmerta, the Three Broomsticks was a warm and welcoming establishment in Hogsmeade. Yet Dark Magic still managed to worm its way in there in the form of the cursed opal necklace. Part of a clumsy attempt on Dumbledore’s life, [Gryffindor](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/gryffindor) Quidditch team member, [Katie Bell](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/katie-bell), took the necklace from the pub while under the influence of the [Imperius Curse](/fact-file/spells/the-imperius-curse) and narrowly escaped its deadly power.

## It wasn’t just witches and wizards who frequented the Three Broomsticks

Said to be as old as the only all-wizard village in Britain, the Three Broomsticks was a bit of a haven for all sorts of magical beings, such as hags, who couldn’t disguise themselves particularly well in the Muggle world. In fact, Ron and Hermione once thought they spotted an ogre!

## If you are willing to change your mind… you’d be friends with Dudley
For the most part, Dudley Dursley was nothing more than a spoilt, bullying, brute of a boy. However, after the incident with the Dementors in *Order of the Phoenix*, things changed a little bit. Dudley seemed to have a bit of a wakeup call and, dare we say it, grew as a person. He went from hating Harry to telling him that he didn’t think he was a waste of space and even left a cup of tea outside his room. We even know that in later life he and Harry hung out a little bit. While these changes don’t suddenly make him a good person – we can’t help but think he was at least trying to be a better one. If you’re someone who can relate to the process Dudley went through, then we think you’d be his friend. Whether you’re someone who was known to be mean in the past or you just weren’t keen on the person you were, you managed to catch yourself before it got too late. You have done some serious reflecting on who you want to be and (like Dudley) have made changes for the better. Are you the type of person that can’t stand eccentricity? Do you like things to be straightforward, uncomplicated and free from silly, fluffy nonsense? Then we think you’d most likely be friends with Vernon Dursley. Vernon prided himself on how ordinary he was. He had a good job, nice house, decent car and a wife and child that fit perfectly into their allotted roles. ## Hogwarts!
This might be a place we are all very familiar with, but who doesn’t love going back to Hogwarts? We know we do. In the third *Fantastic Beasts* film we got to see quite a lot of this iconic castle – from the Great Hall to the Room of Requirement. What we really enjoyed though was watching Jacob visit Hogwarts for the first time. We don’t think there are many (if any) other Muggles who can say they have walked its halls. And yes, he might have been tricked into eating some Cockroach Clusters by some cheeky Slytherins (typical!), but we still reckon he had a brilliant time visiting the wizarding school.

## The German Ministry of Magic
Thanks to the *Fantastic Beasts* series, we have been able to go beyond the British Ministry of Magic and start to become familiar with other wizarding governments – from France to the USA. And in this film, we got to expand our horizons even further and visit yet another Ministry, this time the German one in Berlin. And it was a rather eventful visit too. Things didn’t get off to the best start when the German Minister for Magic, Anton Vogel, refused to help Newt and his team stop Grindelwald. But then it got worse. It was here that Theseus Scamander was arrested and taken away. And worst of all, it was here that Grindelwald was acquitted of all his crimes and able to launch his bid to become the Supreme Mugwump of the International Confederation of Wizards.

## Bhutan
The final act of *The Secrets of Dumbledore* took place in Bhutan with its spectacular scenery. And those dramatic views certainly matched the drama that unfolded there. High up on a mountaintop, this was where the Qilin ceremony took place which would lead to the selection of the new Supreme Mugwump of the International Confederation of Wizards. It was also the setting where Grindelwald tried to steal the election, where his and Dumbledore’s blood troth was broken and where they faced off in a duel – so a pretty lively location if you ask us.

## The Erkstag 
One of the murkier locations we saw in this film had to be the Erkstag. This prison was not somewhere you would want to be. Underground, dark, damp and dirty it was hardly the most welcoming of places. Unfortunately for Theseus, it was where he was taken after his arrest. And even more unfortunately, it was home to a Manticore – with a taste for human flesh (and don’t get us started on its many, many, offspring). This dank German prison might be something straight out of a nightmare, but it was also where we saw Teddy and Pickett work as an adorable team to undertake a thrilling rescue mission.

## China
The first time we saw Newt in this film he was trekking through the depths of a wild jungle. But what was he looking for? It turned out to be a magical Qilin. At that moment we had no idea just how important this beautiful creature would become. Watching Newt help the Qilin give birth was a joyful moment, which soon turned sour, thanks to Credence and some of Grindelwald’s other acolytes. Though not all was lost, and we couldn’t help but be mesmerised by the wild scenery – especially looking down at it as Newt’s Wyvern flew him to safety in the aftermath of the attack.

## Kowalski Quality Baked Goods
We really enjoyed catching a glimpse of New York – it was where this series of films started after all. And we especially loved that we got to go to Jacob’s bakery again. Although, we must say, at the start of the film it was looking a tad rundown. However, by the time we came back to it, it was full of warmth, light and was the location for something very exciting – Jacob and Queenie’s wedding! We were always rooting for this pair and were delighted when they found their way back to one another… and we must say, their wedding cake did look rather delicious.

## Nurmengard
For fans of the *Harry Potter* series, when you hear the word Nurmengard, you automatically think of the wizarding prison where Grindelwald was kept until his death. And while that was one use for this rather foreboding castle, it had also served a very different purpose. Nestled in the mountains, this stone fortress was firstly a place where Grindelwald had imprisoned *his* opponents. It was also the headquarters for him and his followers. In this film we got to see a lot more of it – and the horrors that went on within its walls. From murder to Necromancy, it was somewhere we would rather avoid.

## Hogsmeade
On a lighter note, it turns out that Hogwarts wasn’t the only well-known location we got to see in this latest instalment of the *Fantastic Beasts* story. We also got to see the wizarding village of Hogsmeade again. It was just wonderful to see Newt and Theseus walking through the village amongst the familiar snow-capped rooftops. We also got to take a trip to the Hog’s Head Inn and meet the younger version of Aberforth – who was still just as grumpy and still full of that same… unique charm of his.

## When Harry arrived at The Burrow for the first time 

We have to begin with the moment that Harry saw the ramshackle yet ‘brilliant’ home of his best friend for the very first time. After spending the long summer days locked in the suburban prison of [4 Privet Drive](https://www.wizardingworld.com/writing-by-jk-rowling/number-four-privet-drive), being rescued and whisked off to a magical home must have a dream come true. For Harry and this former pigsty, it was love at first sight and it soon became another home for him.

It looked as though it had once been a large stone pigsty, but extra rooms had been added here and there until it was several storeys high and so crooked it looked as though it was held up by magic (which, Harry reminded himself, it probably was). Four or five chimneys were perched on top of the red roof. A lop-sided sign stuck in the ground near the entrance read ‘The Burrow’. Round the front door lay a jumble of wellington boots and a very rusty cauldron. Several fat brown chickens were pecking their way around the yard.

‘It’s not much,’ said Ron.

‘It’s brilliant,’ said Harry happily, thinking of Privet Drive.

## Fred and George’s Filibuster fireworks display

Harry’s initial love for [The Burrow](https://www.wizardingworld.com/quiz/the-burrow-quiz) only became stronger after he spent the summer there. In fact, he said the month he spent with the Weasleys had been ‘the happiest of his life’. Surrounded by the hustle and bustle of a loving family, the many excellent meals whipped up by Mrs Weasley and with a bit of extra magic thrown in, we can see why Harry was even a little reluctant to return to Hogwarts. The fireworks display that Fred and George put on during their final evening was the perfect way to end what had been a fantastic summer holiday.

On their last evening, Mrs Weasley conjured up a sumptuous dinner which included all of Harry’s favourite things, ending with a mouthwatering treacle pudding. Fred and George rounded off the evening with a display of Filibuster fireworks; they filled the kitchen with red and blue stars that bounced from ceiling to wall for at least half an hour. Then it was time for a last mug of hot chocolate and bed.

## The night before they all headed off to the Quidditch World Cup

Obviously, going to see the final of the [Quidditch World Cup](https://www.wizardingworld.com/writing-by-jk-rowling/history-of-the-quidditch-world-cup) was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that was hard to beat. Yet, we always thought that some of the happiest and most joyful times Harry had came from smaller moments – and the evening at The Burrow before heading off to the match is an excellent example. From Bill and Charlie’s table battle to eating outside on a balmy summer’s evening, there was no doubt that Harry had fun – which is something his life often seemed to lack.

The source of the commotion was revealed as they entered the garden and saw that Bill and Charlie both had their wands out, and were making two battered old tables fly high above the lawn, smashing into each other, each attempting to knock the other’s out of the air. Fred and George were cheering; Ginny was laughing, and Hermione was hovering near the hedge, apparently torn between amusement and anxiety.

## Playing Quidditch in the orchard

Harry and Quidditch went together like salt and pepper – they were just the perfect match. So, Harry must have adored being able to spend his days playing his favourite sport in one of his favourite places. And luckily for him, most of his summer trips to The Burrow seemed to involve playing this beloved wizarding sport in the Weasleys’ orchard.

Harry remained within the confines of The Burrow’s garden over the next few weeks. He spent most of his days playing two-a-side Quidditch in the Weasleys’ orchard (he and Hermione against Ron and Ginny; Hermione was dreadful and Ginny good, so they were reasonably well-matched) and his evenings eating triple helpings of everything Mrs Weasley put in front of him.

## His seventeenth birthday 

Birthdays for Harry were historically dreadful – well the Dursleys were hardly going to make effort, were they? Yet, Harry’s seventeenth was a pretty good one (despite the shadow of Voldemort’s return). Not only did Harry get to spend the day with those he cared about the most – and got to eat an excellent birthday cake shaped like a Snitch – but he also received a birthday present from Mr and Mrs Weasley that meant the world to him. This moment proved that he was definitely one of the family and belonged right there at The Burrow.

‘It’s traditional to give a wizard a watch when he comes of age,’ said Mrs Weasley, watching him anxiously from beside the cooker. ‘I’m afraid that one isn’t new like Ron’s, it was actually my brother Fabian’s and he wasn’t terribly careful with his possessions, it’s a bit dented on the back, but –’

The rest of her speech was lost; Harry had got up and hugged her. He tried to put a lot of unsaid things into the hug and perhaps she understood them, because she patted his cheek clumsily when he released her, then waved her wand in a slightly random way, causing half a pack of bacon to flop out of the frying pan on to the floor.

## Harry’s birthday present from Ginny

If we’re talking about birthday presents, we also have to mention Ginny’s present to Harry. Though they had split up before this point, Harry and Ginny’s kiss at The Burrow was something Harry wasn’t going to forget about for a long time...

‘There’s the silver lining I’ve been looking for,’ she whispered, and then she was kissing him as she had never kissed him before, and Harry was kissing her back, and it was blissful oblivion, better than Firewhisky; she was the only real thing in the world, Ginny, the feel of her, one hand at her back and one in her long, sweet- smelling hair –

## Bill and Fleur’s wedding

Our final favourite moment from Harry’s trips to The Burrow has to be Bill and Fleur’s wedding. Ok, so this event may not have ended in the most positive way – the Ministry of Magic falling will have that effect – but for the most part, it was a happy and brilliant day. The Burrow, which was always full of love, was the perfect setting for this young witch and wizard to say their vows. And while Harry may have been a little hot in his disguise as Barny Weasley, we’re sure even he appreciated just how special this moment was.

The tufty-haired wizard raised his wand high over the heads of Bill and Fleur and a shower of silver stars fell upon them, spiral- ling around their now entwined figures. As Fred and George led a round of applause, the golden balloons overhead burst: birds of paradise and tiny, golden bells flew and floated out of them, adding their songs and chimes to the din.

## If you tend to overthink things… we think you’re most similar to Albus
Albus Potter was certainly someone who tended to overthink situations. Whether he was worrying about being sorted into Slytherin or distancing himself from his father’s reputation, he often let those worries get to him. His concern about the fact he was sorted into Slytherin even had an impact on his performance at school. Yet, this is one wizard who also managed to overcome these insecurities and became a reluctant hero (ironically, that was just like his dad). When Rose started at Hogwarts, she had big dreams. As she headed off on the Hogwarts Express for the first time, she was already concerned with when she would be allowed to take her O.W.L.s.! Not only was she academic but she was sporty too. She soon became a member of the Gryffindor Quidditch team and according to her mum, Hermione, she was also determined to see how quickly she could break the Quidditch scoring record. If there is someone who liked to aim high, it was Rose. And we think you’re most like this tenacious witch if you’re an overachiever with high expectations. Whether you want to excel at your job, be top of the class or become the captain of a sports team, you’re not afraid of working hard and want to be the very best.

## If kindness is your middle name… you’re just like Scorpius Malfoy
A kind Malfoy? What kind of sorcery is this? But yes, it’s true. The son of Draco and grandson of Lucius had an incredibly kind nature. From the moment he offered to share his sweets with two strangers, Albus and Rose, on the Hogwarts Express that was made clear. When Albus wanted to reassure Scorpius that there was no way he could ever be Voldemort’s son he said it his kindness proved it and that it ran through him from ‘the depths of your belly, to the tips of your fingers’. If you’re someone who values friendship and cares about the feelings of others, then we think you’re most like Scorpius. Your generosity and compassion are what plenty of people most admire about you.

## If you’re not short on confidence… you’re most Polly Chapman
Polly Chapman may not have been as prominent a character as some of the others on this list but there is no doubt that you will have noticed her. She was one witch that was certainly full of confidence and unafraid to share her opinions. From asking Scorpius to the Blood Ball in an alternate timeline to making her views on Albus’ flying skills clear, she knew her own mind. We think you are most like Polly if you are unafraid to keep your views to yourself and don’t feel the need to tiptoe round sensitive subjects. Although, while Polly’s bluntness could sometimes border on cruel, we think you’re able to display a bit more tact while still making your feelings crystal clear.

Like his grandfather (and namesake), this was one Potter with a mischievous side. James Potter didn’t appear to take life too seriously and loved to laugh. In fact, when we first met him on platform nine and three-quarters he couldn’t help but poke fun at Albus for being worried about being sorted into Slytherin.
