If you’ve ever imagined interacting with some of the magical creatures so beloved by Magizoologist Newt Scamander, the latest Fantastic Beasts VR experience released tomorrow should definitely tickle your fancy – we reckon the creatures inside it look so real you can almost tickle them, too.

The Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them VR Experience is a virtual reality experience that requires you to do nothing more than don a pair of VR glasses, slip on some headphones so you can hear Eddie Redmayne channelling Newt Scamander in your ears, and find some space to wave a pretend wand around (in other words, make sure you don’t knock your granny’s vase off her mantelpiece). A smaller version of this experience first came out last year, but now it’s back, complete with many more beasts to interact with.

Once again, you’ll find yourself inside Newt’s magical suitcase, able to move from his packed, curiosity-filled shed to the various areas which house his beasts. As you move from zone to zone, you can come face-to-face with Graphorns, Bowtruckles, Occamys, Nifflers and a truly spectacular Thunderbird.

You’ll also be able to perform spells – spells that will let you actually interact with the creatures, adding a whole new layer of realism. And the beasts themselves are quite imposing – trust us, you haven’t felt real awe until you’ve stared an enormous Occamy in the eye...

Our favourite spell enabled us to lift a sneaky Niffler up in the air, turn him over and shake the gold out of his pouch… very satisying. Although we can’t say the Niffler looked that happy about it, but hey, it must happen to them all the time, given all the shiny things they pilfer.

The Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them VR Experience will be released on Vive, Daydream, Oculus and Gear on 23 January.
