Harry Potter Full-Cast Audio Editions


Will the full-cast audio editions replace the existing Stephen Fry and Jim Dale narrations?

No. As the 1.4 billion hours of these audiobooks that have been listened to on Audible alone shows, the original recordings by Stephen Fry and Jim Dale are beloved by generations of fans. The full-cast editions will exist alongside the single-voice narrations, giving you the option to hear the magic in a number of different ways.

How can I listen to/where can I buy the full-cast audio editions?

The full-cast audio editions will be available exclusively on Audible.

When will the full-cast audio editions be released?

We’re early in the production process, but our goal is to release Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s/Sorcerer’s Stone in late 2025, with the subsequent books following sequentially into early 2026.

Is J.K. Rowling involved with the production of the full-cast audio editions?

As creator of the wizarding world and one of the world’s greatest storytellers, J.K. Rowling’s extraordinary body of writing is the foundation of all Harry Potter projects. Although J.K. Rowling has given her blessing to the project and will be kept informed, she will not be involved in its production, which will be handled by the teams at Audible and Pottermore Publishing.

How will the full-cast audio editions be different to the Stephen Fry and Jim Dale recordings?

The stories fans know and love will remain unchanged and unabridged, but the recording approach and processes will be different. The full-cast audio editions will be created using Dolby Atmos technology, will feature a full cast, and will include newly recorded, bespoke music and extensive sound design.

Who will be voicing the characters?

Audible and Pottermore Publishing will be working with casting directors and agents to find the best voices for all the characters. More to come.

How big will the cast be?

There are over 500 speaking roles – some large, some small – in the seven Harry Potter books (yes, we’ve counted them) and we anticipate casting around 100 voice actors to cover all of them.

Is this version abridged?

No. The full-cast audio editions will not be abridged.

Can I apply to be in these new audio editions?

The project is in the early stages of development and Audible and Pottermore Publishing will be working with casting directors and agents to find the best voices for all the characters.
