Hallowe’en is the time for embracing your Dark side. Perhaps you fancy being the villain for the night in a seriously fang-tastic costume. But which Harry Potter villain speaks to you? We’ve had a think and come up with a few ideas…

If you want to add a pop of colour to Hallowe’en… you should dress up as Dolores Umbridge

Hallowe’en is a time when colour seems to drain out of the world. It is full of greys, blacks and all the murky shades in between. If the thought of such a colourless existence strikes fear in your heart and you want to add just that little bit of something back in, then we think you would make an excellent Dolores Umbridge. While we are sure you don’t share any of her more… unpleasant personality traits, you do share her love of pink. So, grab that baby pink bow, don that hot pink jacket and practice your smuggest smile – it’s Umbridge time.

If you are known for your luscious locks… you should dress up as Lucius Malfoy

Do you have a head of hair that everyone envies? Do you keep your haircare routine top secret? Do you consider your hair to be your superpower? Then the villain that you should be for Hallowe’en is Lucius Malfoy. Forget his terrible personality, terrible parenting and terrible views – there is no other witch or wizard that has a mane quite like his. His signature blonde locks are so fabulous, we reckon he could easily be the face of Sleekeazy’s Hair Potion. And as someone similarly blessed, your Lucius costume would be spot on.

If you adore that gothic vibe… you should dress up as Bellatrix Lestrange

It’s spooky season which means it’s your season. Time to lean into that tortured, gothic vibe you have going on with lots of black, lots of distressed items of clothing and well, even more black. And which Harry Potter villain fits your vibe? Bellatrix Lestrange. Everything from her wild hair to her black boots just screams gothic icon. She would be perfect for you for Hallowe’en – we bet you have an outfit just like hers already. All you would have to do is put aside your lovely personality, don your darkest clothing and laugh maniacally every once in a while – it’s your time to shine.

If you favour a low-budget Hallowe’en outfit… you should dress up as a Dementor

Hallowe’en is getting out of control. It’s only one day a year, why should you spend all your money on a costume you only wear once? If this is your view of this spookiest of holidays, then we think you would make an excellent Dementor for Hallowe’en. We’re not suggesting that, like these terrible creatures, you suck the joy out of everyone around you. Not at all. In fact, we think you’re rather pragmatic and logical. Why waste money on any old costume when you could grab a sheet, buy a cheap box of dye and create something truly terrifying? Just don’t let your excitement at saving money on your costume show, it’ll ruin your creepy façade.
