Children's Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 13, 2024

This privacy policy is about how Wizarding World Digital LLC and Wizarding World Digital Limited collect and use information you give us if you are a child and use our services. The word “services” in this privacy policy means our websites, mobile apps, games, and other online products, content, and services.

If you need help understanding this document, you should ask your parent or guardian to read it and talk with you about it.

Our services are for adults as well as children. If you are an adult, you should take a look at our general-audience Privacy Policy for more information about how we collect and use your data, including on our services that link to this policy.

What Information Do We Collect From You?

Information about you

For some of our services, you don’t need to give us information like your name or email address to use the service.

For some of our services, we will ask for more information from you so you can use the service, and to answer any questions you have. We might need to ask permission from your parent or guardian before you can give us this information. This can include things like:

  • Your full name
  • Your email address
  • Your username
  • Your telephone number
  • Your home address
  • Numbers that identify your device

For some of our services, you need to choose a nickname or create an account, for example, a Wizarding Passport™. You will need to create a username and password, choose your Harry Potter characteristics, and fill out other information about yourself.

Your Wizarding Passport can also include information like your Hogwarts House, wand, Patronus, and pet. If you use your Wizarding Passport on other people's sites or apps, they may receive information from your Wizarding Passport (we will tell you what information will be shared before you connect), and we may receive information from those other businesses, for example, about your achievements in their game.

For some services, we will ask for permission to access your device’s camera. With your (and your parent or guardian’s) permission, you may be able to take pictures or video within the app experience or access certain augmented reality (“AR”) and other similar interactive features. Some of these features may rely on camera systems to track movements of your eyes and other features on your face or surroundings to apply special effects. Information gathered from this type of technology is used only to make these services and features available to you and exists only on the device during use of the AR features. Pictures, videos, and other facial data are not stored on our systems or shared with any third party.

If people you know want to send you things (for example, a gift or a recommendation), we will receive some of your information from them, including your contact details and (depending on how they give us your details and want to contact you) other information they have about you.

We provide a personalized and interactive experience, but there are no features where you can chat with other users or otherwise post information about yourself.

Information about your parent or guardian

Sometimes we need to collect information about your parent or guardian. For example, this can include their email address. We do this so we can:

  • Let them know about your interest in our services
  • Ask them for permission so you can access parts of our services
  • Tell them how to start some of the features for you
  • Make sure your account works properly and help you get a new password if you forget it

This means we may need to get some information from your parent or guardian, including their:

  • Full name
  • Address
  • Email address
  • Telephone number

When you buy things

Before buying something, you should always have permission from your parent or guardian. When you buy something in one of our services, they may have to pay for it with real money. Some services allow you to buy things inside the service or pay to join our clubs. When things are bought, our helpers will need to collect and use delivery and payment details.

Information about your computer, console, or smartphone

When you visit or use one of our services, we will get some information about your device and your internet browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Chrome, or Firefox). We will also get some information about your IP address and how you use our services. To learn more, see our section about Cookies.

Alerts and push notifications

Our apps might send you alerts from inside the app on your device to help you use the app. For some of our apps, you can also choose to receive alerts on your device that we send from outside your device. We may need to ask permission from your parent or guardian to send you this kind of alert from outside your device. You can always turn these alerts off in the settings of your device. This might be difficult, so make sure to ask your parent or guardian to help.

When you contact us

If you contact us by email or using an online form, we will ask for some information, such as your name and email address, as well as the reason for contacting us. Once we have helped you, we will delete your information.

How Do We Use Your Information?

We use your information for different reasons.

  • Where we enter into a contract with you or your parent or guardian

For us to provide our services in accordance with their terms of use, we need to use some of your information:

  • To let you know if those terms or our policies are changing
  • To give you access to our services, or other things you can receive or connect to through our services
  • To register you for games or competitions and make sure their rules are followed
  • To handle purchases and other things you or your parent or guardian order and any related messages about those

If you don’t provide the necessary information, we will not be able to do these things for you.

  • Where we have a legitimate interest

When using your information in a way that is in our interest but still fair to you, we have something called a "legitimate interest." When we have a legitimate interest and we use your information, we need to be sure that it is not going to upset you.

We have a legitimate interest when we give you access:

  • To our services
  • To play games

We also have a legitimate interest so we can:

  • Learn how we can make our services better
  • Make sure your experience is special and personalized for you
  • Keep you safe
  • Answer your questions and comments when you contact us
  • If you and/or your parent or guardian give us permission (consent)

If you are old enough, you can give us permission to use your information. How old you need to be to give us permission yourself depends on where you live. For example, in the UK, you need to be 13 or older and in Ireland, you need to be 16 or older.

  • If the law says we must use your information

If the law says we must use your information, we will do so. For example:

  • If the government or the police need to investigate something
  • If some other legal rule says we need to use your information

How Do We Share Your Information?

Our helpers (service providers)

Sometimes we have helpers who make sure our services are great. They will help with buying things on our services, like points. They will also help with sending prizes to competition winners. We make sure that our helpers keep your information safe.

Our family of companies (affiliates)

Sometimes we share your information with our family of companies to help us with our services. Our family members include Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc., our parent Warner Bros. Discovery, and companies listed that can be found by navigating to our Affiliates Page. We may update this list sometimes.

If the law says we must share your information

We, our friends, and our helpers will sometimes need to share your information with other people when the law says so, even if this is the law of another country where you do not live. For example, this can happen if the police, a judge, or the government asks us to do so. We need to share your information if it will help us stop people from doing bad things or committing crimes. We also need to share your information if it will help us protect you or other people.

If we sell our business

If we sell our business, we will share your information with the buyer.

If you or your parent or guardian gives us permission

If you or your parent or guardian gives us permission to share your information for something, then we will share your information in the way we describe at the time.

Cookies

What are cookies?

Cookies are tiny files that have information (data) in them. When you visit our services, a cookie is placed on your device (e.g., computer, console, or smartphone). Cookies do not hurt your device.

What do cookies do?

Cookies help us to make your experience better. They can remember what you do on the service (like what you’ve already seen or read) and help us understand what you like doing. The cookies will also help us know which parts of the services are popular and which ones we need to improve.

Some of our helpers and friends use their own cookies or other files (known as web beacons) to help us or for their own activities. For example, these can help us understand how many people visited a service.

Turning cookies off

If you are accessing the service online from Europe, you can choose to turn most cookies off or make other choices about cookies by clicking on the “Privacy Settings” button on our site and setting your cookie preferences. In other locations, you should check your website and device settings. This might be difficult, so make sure to ask your parent or guardian to help you.

If you choose to turn cookies off, some things on the website might not work properly or your experience might not be as good.

One of our helpers is called Adobe Flash Player. Their cookies are turned off differently. To learn how to turn off their cookies, please visit Adobe's website.

Another one of our helpers is called Google Analytics. You have to turn off their cookies in a different way too. To learn how to turn off their cookies, visit the Google Analytics Cookie Usage website.

You can also get your parent or guardian to install a plug-in so they can take control of Google Analytics cookies. They can do this by visiting the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

SENDING YOUR INFORMATION AROUND THE WORLD

We have offices in different places around the world. Sometimes, we will need to send your information to a different country. Usually, this is to the United States, where we and our helpers will use your information in the way we have already described in this privacy policy. You can review a list of our family and helpers in this link as well as a list of the countries where we do business and where we might send your information.

It is important to remember that some countries do not have laws that protect your information in the same way, but we use certain methods that are approved by European authorities to ensure the safety of your data. Some of the methods we use are known as the Standard Contractual Clauses, but we can also use other approved protection measures when we need to do so. If you or your parent or guardian want more information about how we send your information around the world, you can contact us by using the information at the end of this privacy policy.

WE WANT TO KEEP YOUR INFORMATION SAFE

We protect your information and make sure not to keep it for too long. We keep your information only for as long as reasonably needed to fulfill the purposes for which we collected or obtained it. We use reasonable business criteria to establish retention periods. For example, if you register on our Services, we will store your personal information for as long as needed to maintain your account, fulfill your requests, enforce any applicable terms that govern your use of the Services, maintain appropriate records, or as otherwise required by law.

We may need to send you a message if someone gets to your information without our permission. We will usually send this message by email to you or your parent or guardian. Our message will explain what happened, why this matters to you, and what we are doing to fix it. If we cannot send you this message directly, we may make a public post about it.

CONTROLLERS & HOW TO CONTACT US

Some of our services have more than one person responsible for your information. For example, both Wizarding World Digital LLC and Wizarding World Digital Limited jointly control how your information is used. The Contact Us section below tells you how to reach us.

YOUR RIGHTS

You or your parent or guardian can ask to access your information, ask us to delete it, or stop us from using it sometimes. Sometimes you or they can ask us to fix any mistakes or send it to someone else. Where we have asked your parent or guardian to agree to let us use your information, they can stop us from using it. You or your parent or guardian can make these requests by sending an email to wbdprivacy@wbd.com.

If you think that we have done something wrong and did not correct our mistake after you asked us, then you or your parent or guardian can contact the data protection authority where you live or in the country where you think we made the mistake.

Some US states require us to share additional privacy information. If you live in one of these states, you and your parent or guardian can visit our CALIFORNIA AND OTHER US STATES RIGHTS section for more help and information.

CALIFORNIA & OTHER US STATES RIGHTS

Please visit our CALIFORNIA AND OTHER STATES RIGHTS FOR CHILDREN page with your parent or guardian to learn more about what we do with your information if you live in one of the US states that require us to share additional privacy information.
