The Longbottoms were an ancient wizarding family, making them part of a pure-blood pantheon known as 'The Sacred Twenty-Eight', alongside other historic clans, such as the Malfoys and the Blacks. The most known member is perhaps Neville Longbottom, a Gryffindor student who was an integral part in the fight against Lord Voldemort. His mother and father, Alice and Frank Longbottom, had been tortured to insanity by Lord Voldemort's Death Eaters, living the rest of their days in St Mungo's Hospital, while Neville was raised by his grandmother, Augusta. Despite this tragedy, the couple were known as legends among the wizarding community, contributing valiantly to the first iteration of the Order of the Phoenix - while their son continued to carry their torch.
