The Black family

The 'Noble and Most Ancient House of Black' were one of the oldest known wizarding families. Like a few others, the family championed age-old values, such as protecting their pure-blood line. This was taken so seriously, that anyone who dared to challenge these ideals were quite literally burnt out of the family tree. Acts that could exile members could range from marrying a Muggle-born, or in the case of Sirius Black, running away from home. Due to the specific whims of pure-blood families, many of them interlink. The Black family, for instance, is closely connected to the Malfoy line, with Bellatrix Lestrange being Sirius's cousin.
