Did you ever secretly want to try on the Sorting Hat again? Now’s your chance... introducing the beautifully redesigned Sorting Ceremony.

Attention all Hogwarts students, new and old! The original Sorting Ceremony you know and love has had an enchanting makeover for 2026. Millions of you have discovered your house with us through the years; now you’ll have the rare chance to try on the Hat again (or for the first time) as the experience steps up a gear.

Expect to be taken on an atmospheric journey as a first-year Hogwarts student, from receiving your acceptance letter to entering the Great Hall for the first time, ready to discover which house you truly belong in. With stunning new animation, music, and a Sorting Hat that really talks, we can’t wait for you to try it out.

Whether you’re new to Hogwarts, or you’ve already been assigned a house and want to don the Sorting Hat again, we’re here to answer your questions about the new visually enhanced ceremony…

I’ve already been sorted... Can I still try this new Sorting Ceremony?

Yes! As a school treat, you’ll have the rare opportunity to experience the Sorting Ceremony again, even if you’re already signed up and been sorted with us. You’ll only get to try it once though, so consider the Hat’s decision carefully...

What if I’m sorted into a different house this time?

Previously sorted into Ravenclaw, and the new Sorting Ceremony gives you Slytherin? You have the choice: either you can embrace your new identity and get stuck into Slytherin life… or just take the result with a pinch of salt and keep to your Ravenclaw persona. There’s no obligation to switch; as we know, the Sorting Hat takes your choice into account!

Are the questions different?

Don’t worry; the Sorting Hat has retained its centuries of wisdom, with the same methods of finding out which house you belong in. The original, tried-and-tested Sorting Ceremony has the same questions, but the experience itself will be even more exciting.

We’ll update if any more questions arise, but in the meantime, try the new Sorting Hat on for size… take your seat.
