## New ride “Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry”, is all about the dreaded Dolores Umbridge

Perhaps more fearful than Lord Voldemort himself, [the wizarding world’s other great villain](https://www.harrypotter.com/features/exploring-the-villains-and-less-obvious-villains-of-the-wizarding-world) – Dolores Umbridge – is back with a vengeance in this new ride, __Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry__. This new, fully immersive dark ride takes place just after the Battle of Hogwarts in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, where the devious former-Hogwarts Professor has been put on trial. Alas, things don’t go accordingly to plan, and Umbridge escapes the court alongside a gaggle of remaining Death Eaters.   

Your job will be to re-capture Umbridge alongside a few familiar friends (Harry, Ron and Hermione, no less!) and a lovely house-elf called Higgledy.

## Watch out for Easter eggs!   

We love the big bombastic splendour of a theme park, but we know a lot of you like to keep an eye out for the little details too. The Ministry of Magic will have those in abundance for you. And although we don’t want to spoil absolutely everything for future-visitors, here’s a few tips.

Firstly - look out for a painting of Cassandra Trelawney, celebrated Seer and Professor [Sybill Trelawney’s](https://www.harrypotter.com/writing-by-jk-rowling/sybill-trelawney) great-great grandmother. We encourage you to talk to the painting for a fun surprise - once she's awake, of course. You won’t see it coming! (Bit of Divination humour for you there!)

It's a Hogwarts bonanza today, as we are delighted to reveal six of the school’s staff that will appear in the Harry Potter HBO Original Series.

John Lithgow is confirmed as Albus Dumbledore, the Headmaster of Hogwarts and Harry’s future mentor. Lithgow is a 6-time Emmy winner, 2-time Tony winner and a BAFTA and Oscar nominee. Most recently, he won the 2025 Best Actor Oliver Award for his role in the West End theatre production, *Giant*. 

Tony, Golden Globe and Olivier winner and Oscar and Emmy nominee Janet McTeer will portray Hogwarts Deputy Headmistress and Head of Gryffindor House, Professor McGonagall. 

Paapa Essiedu who was Emmy and BAFTA nominated for his turn in comedy-drama *I May Destroy You*, takes on the surly Potions Professor, Severus Snape, while BIFA nominated actor Nick Frost will be taking on the mantle of beloved Hogwarts gamekeeper Rubeus Hagrid. 

Theatre performer Luke Thallon is playing Quirinus Quirrell, the Defence Against the Dark Arts professor in Harry’s first year, while five-time BAFTA winner Paul Whitehouse, perhaps best known for UK sketch series *The Fast Show*, plays Hogwarts caretaker Argus Filch.

That’s a very full Hogwarts staff room already! 

‘We are happy to announce the casting of John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Paapa Essiedu, Nick Frost, Luke Thallon and Paul Whitehouse to play Dumbledore, McGonagall, Snape, Hagrid, Quirrell and Filch,’ said Francesca Gardiner, showrunner and executive producer and Mark Mylod, director of multiple episodes and executive producer. ‘We’re delighted to have such extraordinary talent onboard, and we can’t wait to see them bring these beloved characters to new life.’

Bloomsbury announce Levi Pinfold as the new illustrator of the Harry Potter Illustrated Editions series

From the moment that the Harry Potter Illustrated Editions series launched in 2015 with *Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone*, it became a global phenomenon. Jim Kay truly captured the essence of the wizarding world with his spectacular artwork that not only included breathtaking scenes and gorgeously detailed characters but truly brought the stories to life. It’s no wonder that these editions are so beloved by fans and new readers alike.  

After ten years at the helm, Jim Kay made the difficult decision to step back from the Harry Potter Illustrated Editions to focus on his mental health. The search then began to find a worthy successor to pick up the mantle and complete the journey. Today, Bloomsbury have announced that they have found that person. The multi-award-winning artist, Levi Pinfold, will illustrate the final two books in the series.  

Eagle-eyed fans might have spotted Levi’s work already. He has contributed to both Bloomsbury’s Harry Potter Hogwarts House Editions and *The Harry Potter Wizarding Almanac*, where he used his keen eye and incredible technical ability to capture the imagination of fans worldwide. 

Excited to be part of the journey, Levi has given us an insight into his vision for the next in the series of illustrated editions:

‘Being given the keys to Hogwarts and asked to explore feels exactly how it sounds… magical. These books are like old friends, and I feel incredibly lucky to attempt to share what I see in them. Visually speaking, *Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince* is like watching a firework display on the coldest, darkest of nights. That sense of wonder and awe is something I’d love to share with readers, my younger self and my own kids.’ 

With *Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince* set to be published in October 2026, releasing simultaneously with Scholastic in the US, fans will be able to see Levi’s artwork in all its splendour. For now, here is a sneak peek at what you can expect in the latest instalment of the series.

We’re not the only ones who recognises Levi’s talent. As Jim Kay himself recalls:  

‘An art director first showed me Levi’s work many years back when I was visiting a publisher. When he pulled open the drawer and I saw this beautiful piece of painting, I was blown away. His work has since then become so important to me, as he’s everything that you could wish for in an illustrator. It’s a huge comfort to know he is working on the Illustrated Editions, for which I’m so grateful, but also as a fan of both Potter and Pinfold, I’m really excited!’

Following the award-winning audio platform Yoto’s highly successful release of all seven Harry Potter audiobooks in August (which happens to be one of the best performing releases), today they have launched their latest lot of audio magic – The Hogwarts Library Collection.

Any visit to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is an out-of-this-world experience, but thanks to these new magical enhancements, Harry Potter fans can live their wizarding and witching fantasies in a whole new way.

Previous visitors to [Universal Orlando Resort](https://www.harrypotter.com/discover-experiences/experiences/the-wizarding-world-of-harry-potter-universal-orlando-resort) may be aware of the interactive wands already (in fact, you may already be an expert!) but now, you’ll be able to cast even more spells and discover new ways to unlock magical moments.  

Available in four designs, these new special wands will give guests an even more immersive experience while visiting the parks’ locations. Using unique light and haptic effects, budding spell-casters can use the Universal Orlando Resort App to try out the magic, thanks to the app’s new feature, [Universal Play.](https://www.universalorlando.com/web/en/gb/things-to-do/universal-play/wand-magic) And there will be opportunities all across the park to cast spells, from tackling pixies in Hogsmeade to conjuring a Patronus in Knockturn Alley.

__UPDATE! We can officially reveal the locations of our Butterbeer truck, a big moment of Butterbeer Season. This friendly vehicle will be traversing several US states across the summer with a selection of Butterbeer-treats for those that find it. The first stop will be in Bentonville, AR on 15th March. Then we go to Kansas City, MO on 16th March, Memphis, TN, on the 22nd March, and Nashville following up on the 23rd March. Woo!__

## A special competition is bubbling up at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London

## New Butterbeer products to look out for  

__Something sweet__

Especially for the season, Keebler have created special-edition Butterbeer Fudge Stripe Cookies that cleverly replicate the fluffy textures of cream soda and butterscotch. 

Meanwhile, Hershey’s have recreated their iconic Kisses with a Butterbeer theme – complete with wizarding world packaging. 

For something with more of a crunch, Goldfish have created Goldfish Butterbeer Flavored Grahams, packed with a butterscotch taste. And the snacks have even been shaped like a teeny tiny tankard and a Butterbeer keg to go along with the classic fish designs. 

In the US, Skinny Pop popcorn has also created a special Butterbeer flavour for the season, perfect for a Harry Potter movie marathon, are we right?

## What is *Harry Potter and the Cursed Child*?
We’re sure that while most of you are aware of what *Harry Potter and the Cursed Child* is, there’s no harm in a quick refresher – it’s exactly the kind of thing Hermione would do. *Cursed Child* is the eighth Harry Potter story. A play, it was inspired by the original story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany. 

Set 19 years after the *Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows*, Harry, Ron and Hermione are back. Although this time they are joined by the next wizarding generation. When Harry’s son, Albus, becomes friends with Draco Malfoy’s son, Scorpius, they end up on a brand-new adventure where the past, present and future are all at risk. With epic spells, friendship and theatrical magic that will make you question everything, this show will take you on a thrilling race through time.

While *Cursed Child* has always had a home across the pond in New York, it is now set to travel around North America on its 2025 tour.
