If you take game night seriously… you’re Quidditch fan McGonagall
Despite McGonagall’s Hogwarts Quidditch career ending with a nasty injury (and a burning desire to see Slytherin defeated in every match forevermore), it didn’t dampen her ferocious love for the wizarding game! As someone who rolls their eyes every time they hear ‘it’s the taking part that counts’, we imagine you respect how she took competition seriously and share that dedication to winning which can sometimes seem, well, terrifying.
However, like McGonagall giving Harry his broom, you are not afraid to help others in pursuit of their own wins or work as part of a team. While someone chatting rather than taking their turn at a board game still fills you with an unspeakable rage, overall, you are a good sport who just gets a little… overenthusiastic.
Do you dream of true love? You’re secret-romantic McGonagall
While the stern-but-fair professor seemed too level-headed to get caught up in matters of the heart – there was more to Minerva than meets the eye. From her day-long engagement to the Muggle she fell for, to her and Elphinstone’s happy marriage that was tragically cut short, Minerva had her fair share of epic love.
As someone who now feels compelled to go and pore over every detail of Minerva’s secret romantic past here, this is the McGonagall you are most similar to. You are not afraid to take risks for love. You might have had your heart broken in the past, but you don’t regret it. That’s not to say you are careless about who you choose to love – it can take you a while to drop your guard – but once you do? You’re all in.
If you’re a cat person through and through… you’re like tabby cat McGonagall
Cats are majestic predators wrapped in tiny bundles of fluff. A mix of enigmatic grace and squishy toe beans. Complex riddles that like to lounge in their favourite cardboard box. In short, cats are the best. Fully agree with all of that? Then you’re most like McGonagall in her Animagus form.
A shrewd judge of character, nothing got past the grey tabby cat with spectacle markings. Minerva embodied some of the best feline personality traits and you do too… we’re talking intelligence and perceptiveness rather than furballs and chasing mice though.
Plus, generally having the ability to turn into a cat would be your dream come true. Like our feline friends, while you’re not necessarily shy and retiring, you do appreciate having time to yourself. Quietly shifting into cat form to sneak away for a well-deserved nap in that sunny, peaceful corner sounds like utter bliss!
Secretly a big softie? You’re ‘Have a biscuit, Potter’ McGonagall
When people first meet you, they might think you can come across as a little bit brusque – you tend to get to the point and don’t really go in for small talk. If anything, like McGonagall, you’re probably well-respected, known for being firm-but-fair and don’t coddle others.
However, that’s not to say you don’t care deeply. In fact, you’d be hard-pressed to find someone as loyal and supportive as you! Like McGonagall dropping her Head of House mask to offer Harry a biscuit when he was struggling, reassuring Neville that Charms was not a soft option or when she simply told Harry it was good to see him on the precipice of battle, you have a knack for knowing exactly what someone needs. You might not be cuddly, but you are kind.
If you get things done… you’re Head of House McGonagall
You’re an overachieving superstar who seems to be able to handle any challenge that is thrown at them – the same as Minerva. As Head of Gryffindor, she was a shining example of what a house leader should be. Efficient, smart and fearless, she was a force to be reckoned with.
As somebody who has never missed a deadline, been referred to as a role model more than once and has exceedingly high standards – this is your Minerva. People look to you, and you don’t disappoint. That’s not to say everything is always smooth sailing. However, like McGonagall managing to handle having the Marauders, Weasley twins and golden trio in her house, you don’t cower away when things get tough, and you always have a plan.
Are you an icon? You’re tartan dressing-gown McGonagall
You might not be a celebrity, but does everyone still know your name? Would most people call you a legend? Do you have that innate coolness that can’t be learnt? Well, then this is your Minerva.
Tartan dressing-gown McGonagall isn’t just a look… it’s a state of mind. It’s maintaining your air of unshakeable authority while giving out detentions in your night clothes and hairnet. It’s not caring that you’re wearing it while you discuss life or death situations with your boss. It’s defending Hogwarts from a plague of Dark forces in an epic battle while wearing it. It’s the epitome of cool. The definition of impressive. It’s iconic.
And it’s probably safe to say that you are too.
